Brandon Johnson, 38, who has no fixed address, has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash that happened in November, a Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson announced this week.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, police say that Johnson was struck by the Charger - which stood out due to its bright color - while he was crossing the street in the 1700 block of New York Avenue in Northeast.

The driver of the Charger then sped away from the scene, though he was later captured on video (which can be found here, or above) at an area gas station.

DC Fire and Emergency Services personnel were called to the scene and rushed Johnson to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries, where he died more than four months later.

The fatal crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or Charger has been asked to contact detectives at the Metropolitan Police Department by calling (202) 727-9099 or the agency’s text tip line at 50411.
